LANCASTER, PA, May 24, 2004 –
James W. Saxton, Chairman of
Stevens & Lee’s Health Law Litigation Group and Co-Chairman of
the Health Law Group, moderated a panel at the Crittenden Medical
Insurance Conference held May 5-7 in San Diego, CA.
Mr. Saxton’s panel, “The Plaintiffs Want
Another Raise – A Bump in Severity,” discussed techniques to
limit the severity of malpractice claims. He presents at over 25
annual conferences on a regional and national basis to thousands of
medical professionals.
Mr. Saxton’s entire practice has been focused
on the representation and protection of health care providers and
organizations in litigation claims and in counseling them on
practice and risk management issues. He has authored in excess of
150 articles and several handbooks, and has co-authored three
textbooks. His latest, The Satisfied Patient: A Guide to Preventing
Malpractice Claims by Providing Excellent Customer Service, was
released by HCPro, Inc. in August, 2003. He sits on several
editorial boards and is an invited speaker across the country on
issues such as liability reduction, risk management and other health
care related issues.
Mr. Saxton is Chairman of the American Health
Lawyer’s Association’s practice group on Healthcare Liability
and Litigation. He has also set up several educational programs
concerning liability issues and has worked with medical practices,
hospitals, retirement communities and other health care
organizations throughout the country on customized loss control
programs and litigation issues.
Mr. Saxton, along with others in the firm, has
assisted a number of groups and organizations in the health care
industry design and implement alternatives to traditional commercial
insurance, and has assisted these organizations in managing their
risk – a key component of any non-traditional insurance program.
