LANCASTER, PA, June 19, 2008 – James W.
Saxton, Esq., Chair of Stevens & Lee’s Health Care Litigation Group
and Co-Chair of the Health Care Department, has been inducted as a
Fellow into The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the oldest
professional medical organization in the United States.
Mr. Saxton joins a select group of attorneys that has been elected
to the Fellowship, which is comprised mostly of physicians. The
College, which was founded in 1787, is a not-for-profit educational
and cultural institution dedicated to advance the cause of health
while upholding the ideals and heritage of medicine.
Mr. Saxton lectures frequently and is invited by nationally
prominent health care organizations across the country to speak on
health care issues, liability reduction and risk management.
He is an active trial lawyer – a practice he has sustained for more
than 25 years – representing health care providers in state and
federal court and administrative proceedings. He advises hospitals,
medical groups and retirement communities throughout the U.S. in
connection with understanding and reducing their professional
liability risk.
Mr. Saxton develops risk reduction strategies for health care
providers and organizations nationwide and creates innovative
strategies and educational programs to support them. He has
published more than 200 articles, several handbooks and seven
textbooks including most recently, Sorry Works! Disclosure,
Apology and Relationships Prevent Medical Malpractice Claims, an
authoritative manual on disclosure and apology.
