[]  James C. Schwartzman Named to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania's Interest on Lawyers Trust Account Board


PHILADELPHIA, PA, October 21, 2008   –  James C. Schwartzman has been appointed by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to the Interest on Lawyers Trust Account (IOLTA) Board. He will serve a three-year term.

IOLTA is an appointed board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania that provides funds for legal aid to the poor.

Mr. Schwartzman, a Shareholder with Stevens & Lee, represents and counsels lawyers, judges and law firms on ethics-related issues. He has an active federal white collar criminal defense practice and frequently handles matters before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He also has extensive trial experience in civil matters.

In addition to serving on the IOLTA Board, Mr. Schwartzman is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA). He also is a member of the Board of Directors of Independence Blue Cross and a member of The Committee of Seventy. He is a former Chairman of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania’s Disciplinary Board and Continuing Legal Education Board.

He received a J.D., cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law (1972) and an A.B. from Washington University (1967). He is a resident of Radnor, Delaware County.
