HARRISBURG, PA, November 10, 2006 – Larry B. Selkowitz, Of Counsel in Stevens & Lee’s Health Care and Litigation departments, was honored by The Presidents Council on Integrity & Efficiency and The Executive Council on Integrity & Efficiency with the Investigation Award for Excellence.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Selkowitz served as Assistant U.S. Attorney, Civil Health Care Fraud Coordinator and head of Affirmative Civil Enforcement Initiative for the United States Department of Justice. During his tenure, he was among ten members of the Department’s York False Claims Group, which uncovered allegations of a series of fraudulent acts by county government officials. The award was presented at The 9th Annual Awards Ceremony held October 24, 2006 in Washington, DC.
Mr. Selkowitz represents health care and related providers in health care fraud, litigation and compliance matters. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Mr. Selkowitz designed and ran the first national health care fraud project in the U.S. for the Department of Justice and was instrumental in launching the second national project. In large part due to these efforts, he was the recipient of the 1997 Directors Award presented by Attorney General Janet Reno for superior performance in Affirmative Civil Enforcement and the recipient of the 2000 Directors Award for superior performance as an Assistant United States Attorney arising from the false claims act prosecution of a major defense contractor.
Mr. Selkowitz served for several years on the Health Care Fraud Subcommittee of the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee. He has lectured to provider and trade groups across the country and has served as an instructor and course planner in health care law for the National Advocacy Center of the Justice Department in Columbia, South Carolina.
