A former consulting geologist, Don has over 20 years of experience providing professional environmental services to commercial, industrial and manufacturing clients, developers, municipalities and economic development agencies. He is a Pennsylvania-licensed professional geologist as well as a lawyer and concentrates his legal practice on environmental issues associated with a wide variety of transactions, including mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, Brownfields redevelopment, real estate transfers and other impaired property transactions. Using his considerable technical background, he counsels clients on state voluntary cleanup programs and assists them in formulating and implementing cost-effective cleanup strategies. He also counsels clients in the due diligence process, identifying, evaluating and allocating environmental risks associated with corporate and real estate transactions and in negotiating and obtaining insurance coverage to facilitate deals. Don is also a Pennsylvania licensed property and casualty insurance producer.

Don assists municipal entities, economic development agencies and private developers obtain financial incentives, conduct due diligence, obtain environmental insurance coverage and formulate and implement cleanup plans to obtain liability protection to acquire blighted property for redevelopment purposes. Some of his public Brownfield projects include the County of Lancaster's Emergency Management Training Facility and Lancaster's Clipper Magazine Stadium.

As a consultant, Don gained an extensive background in the evaluation and remediation of heavy metals, chlorinated solvents and petroleum hydrocarbon releases. For more than a decade, he consulted clients on environmental due diligence, site characterization and soil and groundwater remediation at commercial, manufacturing, industrial and bulk and retail petroleum facilities.

In April 2008, State Senator Joe Scarnati appointed Don to serve on Pennsylvania's Cleanup Standards Scientific Advisory Board.
