Ryan P. Kennedy Presents to the South Jersey Real Estate Investors Association

PRINCETON, NJ, December 1, 2015 – Ryan P. Kennedy, Of Counsel with Stevens & Lee, presented to the South Jersey Real Estate Investors Association on November 17, 2015, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

Mr. Kennedy presented “Investor Property Tax Strategies” before a group of over 100 New Jersey business owners and investors. The interactive presentation covered all aspects of property taxes and assessments, focusing on strategies for property owners and investors to maximize their portfolios. The presentation also previewed upcoming changes to New Jersey’s real property tax assessment system and the current climate of challenges facing not-for-profit hospitals and other entities. Going beyond the basic filing of an appeal, Mr. Kennedy broke down the process with an eye toward effectively managing the property tax portion of an investor’s expense statement to allow businesses to concentrate on when and how to allocate resources to combat the growing expense.

Mr. Kennedy represents private and government clients in all aspects of real estate acquisition, lending and development, with particular emphasis on redevelopment, condemnation, lender work-outs and transit-oriented development.

He represents property owners in real estate tax appeals throughout the state of New Jersey, including the management of entire investor portfolios for institutional clients. For development projects in New Jersey, Mr. Kennedy has advised both government and private entities in the area of state and local tax incentive programs, including negotiating PILOT agreements, tax abatements and redevelopment area bonds.

He also regularly advises clients on New Jersey election and campaign finance and pay-to-play law, and represents property owners in real estate tax appeals throughout the state, including the management of entire investor portfolios for institutional clients.

Mr. Kennedy has a J.D., cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law and a B.A. from Boston College.
