Stevens & Lee represents clients in all areas of toxic tort and other product liability litigation. We have successfully resolved challenging toxic exposure allegations on behalf of many self- and non-insured clients. We regularly represent chemical and industrial product manufacturers in the defense of personal injury claims involving numerous and varied materials, including asbestos, mold, lead and chemical compounds such as cutting oils, paints, fuels, solvents, benzene, vinyl chloride and others.

Our attorneys handle complex civil litigation involving catastrophic injury, premises liability, multi-party litigation and class action suits on behalf of very large and high profile businesses. We have served as National Coordinating Counsel and coverage counsel for several companies named in over 25,000 asbestos personal injury and wrongful death cases in multiple jurisdictions, and have defended numerous major claims arising from brain damage, cancers and other profound injuries.

Our experience and relationships with environmental consultants and testifying experts allows us to bring a complete and integrated range of services to clients. In addition, we have a rare sub-specialization involving litigation in bankruptcy courts nationally in the context of high stakes toxic tort and environmental insurance issues.

Our lawyers provide advice regarding complex federal regulatory issues and handle administrative litigation involving hazmat transportation, warranties, packaging, labeling and product recalls. We have handled multi-million dollar chemical contamination related-environmental property damage and equipment contamination claims.

In addition, we have successfully resolved toxic tort issues by working with many of the country’s largest insurers and their clients. We regularly represent clients before the United States District Courts and state trial courts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. We also practice regularly before the Environmental Hearing Board, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court and all other Pennsylvania appellate courts. On behalf of our clients, we have been able to both try cases to a successful conclusion and negotiate and obtain advantageous settlements. We are mindful always of the need for clear and open communication among the insurer, the insured and their counsel, and use that level of communication to maximize our effectiveness in obtaining the best result in the litigation we undertake for our clients.

Outside of the courts, Stevens & Lee assist clients in the development of policies and procedures to coordinate and facilitate national handling of product liability issues and claims and to assess their self-insurance programs or other insurance coverage to minimize the potential for litigation.
