IWCE 2024: What Does the C-Suite Need to Know About Utility Comms?

Brett Kilbourne, Of Counsel at Stevens & Lee, will speak on the panel “What Does the C-Suite Need to Know About Utility Comms?” at the IWCE 2024 Conference in Orlando, Florida, on March 27, 2024.

Discussion will focus illustrating to upper management the value in different technology decisions, from LMR MCPTT to SmartX and collaboration.

Many utilities are making decisions about deploying broadband and private networks to better control a wide range of capabilities for utility communications – from sensors to AMI 2.0 to data and video. They are also working to replace their aging LMR voice networks with mission-critical push-to-talk (MCPTT). As their communications points are growing exponentially across multiple networks and the existing platforms are not capable, this session will consider the advantages of deploying new system technology vs. band-aids across the old systems. While spectrum and new equipment is expensive, discover how it may be more cost-effective to implement a new transformative technology network once instead of piecemeal changes across disparate LMR and carrier systems. The real question is, can utilities afford NOT to do it?
