Leonard P. Goldberger Presents at Insurance Society of Philadelphia Program
VALLEY FORGE, PA, June 30, 2016 – Leonard P. Goldberger, a Shareholder with Stevens & Lee, presented at a program sponsored by the Insurance Society of Philadelphia on June 15, 2016, at Princeton Insurance Company in Princeton, NJ.
In his presentation “Insurance and Policyholder Bankruptcy,” Mr. Goldberger provided insurers with strategies and techniques for dealing with insurance-related issues that arise in commercial policyholder bankruptcy cases, and for negotiating favorable and effective settlements of insurance coverage disputes in bankruptcy cases and with post-bankruptcy trusts.
Mr. Goldberger has over 40 years of experience in business bankruptcy law. He represents insurers in asbestos, mass tort and environmental bankruptcy cases and works with foreign and domestic investor clients in the acquisition and financing of financially-distressed businesses. A former Vice President, Director and Executive Committee member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, Mr. Goldberger has also been Chair of the American Bar Association’s Committee on Insurance Coverage Subcommittee on Insolvency and is a member of the ABA’s Litigation Section and its Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. Mr. Goldberger is also a member of INSOL International. He is an INSOL International Global Insolvency Fellow.
Mr. Goldberger lectures and writes extensively on bankruptcy law and China-related topics and has served as a contributing editor on the editorial boards of the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal and INSOL World. He has lectured on Chinese acquisitions of distressed U.S. businesses and assets at Peking University School of Law, Tsinghua University School of Law/Temple University School of Law, Central University of Finance and Economics Law School and KoGuan Law School LLM Program at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. For the last 10 years, Mr. Goldberger has given programs on insurance and policyholder bankruptcies at the Insurance Society of Philadelphia.
As published in Philadelphia magazine, Mr. Goldberger has been recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer from 2005 through 2016 by being selected by his peers as among the top 5 percent of lawyers in the Commonwealth. He received a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and a B.A., summa cum laude, from Temple University.
