Bowen, Partner with Stevens & Lee, on November 7, 2023, where he shared his knowledge regarding property taxation of non-profit organizations at the 2023 Property Tax Symposium in Tampa, FL. Property taxation of non-profit organizations is a complex and evolving issue with significant implications for local governments, communities, and the non-profit sector. This presentation shed light on the challenges associated with this topic. Moving forward, the presentation examined contemporary challenges, including varying definitions of what constitutes a “charitable” or “public benefit” organization. It explored the potential for a different determination of tax-exempt status and highlighted jurisdictional variations that can lead to inconsistencies and controversies. This symposium took place from November 5-8, 2023, at the JW Marriot Tampa in Tampa, FL.
