Duties include preparing research on companies, markets and industries in connection with business development, operations, and client initiatives. Routine tasks include collecting, analyzing and communicating publicly available and internal information. Reports prepared include company profiles, target lists, industry overviews and competitor analyses. The position is based in the Reading, Pennsylvania, office and the firm is accepting entry-level candidates as well as individuals with up to two years of related experience. The Associate is also responsible for maintaining internal documentation, monitoring news topics and assisting in administrative duties as directed. Projects regularly require communications by email or phone, and the Associate should be comfortable using both in a professional capacity.
The ideal candidate must have a desire to do research and writing as their primary job function; be willing to use critical thinking, analytical, & creativity skills for problem solving; and to exhaust all available sources while performing research. In addition, they will also have the following skills/attributes:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- A basic knowledge of business and legal terminology
- Excellent spelling and grammar skills, and the ability to convey written information in a clear, concise and logical manner according to established formatting guidelines
- Ability to work independently with an attention to detail
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
- Experience with advanced search features and alternative search methods preferred
- Enthusiasm to work as a part of the Research team and the motivation to continuously learn about new topics and gain new skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; General Business, Mathematics, Economics, or Business Intelligence Analysis degree preferred

An ESOP involves a sale of the business to a retirement trust that ultimately benefits the company’s employees. Our ESOP lawyers are part of our SES ESOP Strategies, LLC (“SES”) Platform. SES is a 17-person national consulting firm that combines the expertise of ESOP consulting, financial, investment banking and legal professionals to assist companies in creating and maintaining successful, sustainable employee ownership results through an ESOP.
Our ideal candidate will have 5 to 7 years of strong mergers and acquisitions transactional experience. ESOP experience is not required. You will work in a collegial, flexible location from any one of the following offices in Pennsylvania: Bala Cynwyd, Harrisburg, King of Prussia, Reading or Philadelphia.
