David J. Shipley Admitted to the American College of Tax Counsel
PRINCETON, NJ, December 5, 2022 – David J. Shipley, Co-Chair of Stevens & Lee’s State and Local Tax Practice, was admitted as a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel (ACTC).
ACTC is a national organization that is limited to 700 peer-elected tax attorneys. The organization employs a rigorous screening process and only admits those tax professionals who demonstrate extraordinary accomplishments, professional achievements and dedication to improving the practice of tax law.
Mr. Shipley has spent nearly 30 years representing clients in complex state tax controversies. His experience ranges from handling audits and administrative appeals to litigating state tax cases in courts across the country. Mr. Shipley provides sophisticated multistate tax advice to his clients regarding their business operations, assists clients with navigating the state tax implications of corporate mergers and acquisitions and advises clients and their lobbyists on pending state tax legislation and regulations.
Mr. Shipley is a member of the American Bar Association’s State and Local Tax Committee, a member of the advisory board for the New York University Institute on State and Local Taxation, a founding committee member for the Institute for Professionals in Taxation’s Income Tax Schools and has served as a member of New Jersey’s Corporation Business Tax Study Committee. Mr. Shipley frequently contributes to the legislative and regulatory efforts of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and New Jersey Business and Industry Association Joint State Tax Committee.
Mr. Shipley received a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law, and a B.A., cum laude, from the University of Richmond.
