PHILADELPHIA, PA, Feb 1, 2022 – Stevens & Lee is pleased to announce today that Jon C. Hughes has been elected as Secretary and Treasurer of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Business Law Section, effective January 1, 2022.
The Business Law Section is one of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s oldest and largest sections. As Secretary and Treasurer, Mr. Hughes will play key roles in furthering the executive workflow and financial standing of the section, which holds the mission of providing networking and educational opportunities to regional professionals sharing interests in business law.
Mr. Hughes advises public and privately held entities on a range of corporate governance issues and business transactions, including securities offerings, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and financial services. He provides strategic counsel with debt and equity financings, acquisitions and divestitures and general corporate matters and routinely helps foreign clients with a range of cross-border transactions. Mr. Hughes also assists emerging businesses across the gamut of investment and entrepreneurial needs that pervade the start-up space.
As a thought leader, Mr. Hughes has written on trends in private equity and venture capital and has lectured on similar topics. He has been serving as an adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School since 2014, where he teaches Transactional Drafting.
Mr. Hughes earned his LL.M. from the New York University School of Law, his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh.
