Karl S. Myers Appointed as Co-Chair of Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Appellate Advocacy Committee

PHILADELPHIA and HARRISBURG, PA, May 10, 2023 – Stevens & Lee announced today that Karl S. Myers, Co-Chair of the firm’s Appellate Litigation Group, has been re-appointed to the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Appellate Advocacy Committee as Co-Chair. He has served in this role since 2019.

As Co-Chair, Mr. Myers will work collaboratively with committee leaders to advance the Appellate Advocacy Committee’s mission to promote communication and cooperation between lawyers who practice before the state and federal appellate courts and members of the judiciary, provide opportunity to enhance quality of practice in all manners of appeal, and enhance professional growth and knowledge sharing through focused educational programs. The committee will also review and make recommendations concerning the rules of procedure that affect appellate process.  

Mr. Myers is a leading Pennsylvania appellate lawyer with two decades of experience arguing and briefing a wide variety of high-profile, precedent-setting cases before the Pennsylvania Supreme, Commonwealth and Superior Courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He has particular experience in the areas of state and federal constitutional challenges, administrative agency disputes, Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law requests, contracting and bid-protest disputes, insurance insolvency and guaranty association issues, and complex commercial actions. 

Mr. Myers is listed by Chambers and Partners USA in the highest tier of appellate lawyers in Pennsylvania. He serves in prominent roles within the community of appellate practitioners, including as Co-Chair of the Appellate Advocacy Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and on the Board of Directors and as Pennsylvania State Chair for the Council of Appellate Lawyers of the American Bar Association’s Appellate Judges Conference, the first and only national appellate bench-bar organization.

Mr. Myers earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Delaware. He served as a law clerk for the Hon. Russell M. Nigro of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and for the Hon. John T.J. Kelly, Jr. of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
