Karl S. Myers Receives Pennsylvania Bar Association Special Achievement Award
PHILADELPHIA, PA, May 10, 2024 – Karl S. Myers, Co-Chair of Stevens & Lee’s Appellate Practice Group, was presented with a 2024 Special Achievement Award by the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) in a ceremony at its annual meeting in May 2024 in Hershey, PA.
The PBA’s Special Achievement Awards are presented to those who have shown extraordinary commitment to improving the PBA and the legal profession. Mr. Myers was recognized for his years of leadership as Co-Chair of the PBA’s Appellate Advocacy Committee, his mentorship of other Committee members and his dedication to advancing the Committee’s mission of improving appellate practice and collaboration between lawyers and state and federal appellate courts. He is credited with reinvigorating the Committee through member engagement efforts and creating three subcommittees focused on enhancing the group’s web presence, networking and CLE opportunities and exploring the potential of specialist certification for appellate lawyers.
Mr. Myers is a leading Pennsylvania appellate lawyer with two decades of experience arguing and briefing a wide variety of high-profile, precedent-setting cases before the Pennsylvania Supreme, Commonwealth and Superior Courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He has particular experience in the areas of state and federal constitutional challenges, administrative agency disputes, Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law requests, contracting and bid-protest disputes, insurance insolvency and guaranty association issues, and complex commercial actions.
Mr. Myers is listed by Chambers and Partners USA in the highest tier of appellate lawyers in Pennsylvania. He serves in prominent roles within the community of appellate practitioners, including as a Board Member and as Pennsylvania State Chair for the Council of Appellate Lawyers of the American Bar Association’s Appellate Judges Conference, the first and only national appellate bench-bar organization. He also serves as a member of the Board of Governors of the Third Circuit Bar Association and is an active member of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court Historical Society.
Mr. Myers earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Delaware. He served as a law clerk for the Hon. Russell M. Nigro of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and for the Hon. John T.J. Kelly, Jr. of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
