Stevens & Lee Continues Growth of State and Local Tax Practice in NJ and PA

Firm Brings on Aliza L. Sherman and Promotes Tamara Fox Rose

BERGEN COUNTY and PRINCETON, NJ, and HARRISBURG, PA, September 27, 2022 – Stevens & Lee is continuing to expand its State and Local Tax Practice with the addition of Aliza L. Sherman and promotion of Tamara Fox Rose.

Aliza L. Sherman joins the firm as Of Counsel and is based in the firm’s Bergen County and Princeton offices.

Ms. Sherman represents clients in a variety of state tax matters, including corporate income, franchise, sales and use, realty transfer and personal income taxes. Her experience from working in accounting firms, as in-house counsel and as an attorney handling complex state tax litigation brings comprehensive perspectives to handling state tax matters. Ms. Sherman assists clients with state tax audits, administrative appeals and litigation, and advises on the state tax implications of their everyday business operations as well as mergers and acquisitions. She has represented clients in state tax controversy matters before the New Jersey Tax Court, New Jersey Appellate Division, New York Division of Tax Appeals and Tax Appeals Tribunal, New York Appellate Division, Pennsylvania Board of Appeals and Board of Finance and Revenue and Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board.

Ms. Sherman earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and her B.A. from Tufts University.

In Harrisburg, Stevens & Lee has promoted Tamara Fox Rose to Of Counsel. Ms. Rose represents clients in state and local tax matters and incentives and assists regulated utilities in state regulatory matters. She also represents clients in property tax assessment appeals, including tax-exemption litigation. Prior to joining Stevens & Lee, Ms. Rose served as an adviser to the Pennsylvania House Republican Caucus, most recently as Executive Director of the House Finance Committee and formerly as staff counsel to the House Judiciary Committee.

Ms. Rose earned her LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Alabama School of Law, her J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law of The Pennsylvania State University and her B.S. from the University of Delaware.
