READING, PA, December 12, 2014 – John A. Lee, R. Patrick Wood and Edward C. Renenger, along with professionals from BDO USA, LLP, presented a year-end seminar entitled, “Doing Business in Central Pennsylvania and Beyond,” held November 12, 2014, in Harrisburg, PA. The seminar highlighted timely and comprehensive updates on key tax, accounting and financial topics relevant to businesses operating in Central Pennsylvania and across the country.
Messrs. Lee and Wood served as moderators for the “Executive Roundtable Discussion – Lessons Learned from Mergers & Acquisitions.” Mr. Renenger presented “An Introduction to ESOPs: A Tool of Corporate Finance,” which provided examples of how the tax advantages of employee stock ownership plans can serve as a powerful instrument of corporate finance, identified common ESOP misconceptions and illustrated potential ESOP-related pitfalls and risks.
Mr. Lee is head of Griffin Financial Group’s Commercial, Industrial and Services Group. He has extensive experience in providing merger and acquisition advisory services, private placements of debt and equity capital and management buyout advisory services for middle market companies in a wide range of industries. His experience includes sourcing, initiating or managing over 50 investment banking transactions for middle-market business and government services, consumer and industrial manufacturing, distribution and technology companies.
Mr. Wood is a Vice President with Griffin Financial Group. He provides investment banking services to commercial and industrial clients, as well as financial institutions. His experience includes merger and acquisition advisory services and strategic and capital planning.
Mr. Renenger, a Shareholder of Stevens & Lee, is an employee benefits attorney who concentrates his practice on ERISA and qualified retirement plans. He provides particular expertise on the feasibility, design, implementation and administration of employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) for both Subchapter S Corporations, as well as Subchapter C Corporations. Mr. Renenger’s ESOP practice focuses on the entire range of ESOP-owned companies, from companies that are wholly owned by the ESOP Trust, to publicly traded companies in which the ESOP Trust has a minority interest.
