Thomas A. Bowen Elected to the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Tax Section’s Council
HARRISBURG, PA, May 19, 2015 – Thomas A. Bowen, Chair of Stevens & Lee’s State and Local Tax Group, was recently elected by the Tax Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association to serve on its council, which is comprised of the section officers, section delegate and 12 members. Mr. Bowen’s two-year term began May 7, 2015.
In addition to this new role, Mr. Bowen serves on the State Taxation Committee of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is part of the Council on State Taxation Practitioner Connection. He is also Chairman of the Tax Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business & Industry.
Mr. Bowen, a Shareholder with Stevens & Lee, concentrates his practice in state and local taxes and economic development incentives. In the tax area, his focus is on controversies, planning and policy. For incentives, he identifies, negotiates and implements grants, low-interest loans and tax reductions.
A Certified Public Accountant and a lawyer, Mr. Bowen spent seven years with Ernst & Young, LLP, most recently as the Mid-Atlantic Area Director of state and local income and franchise taxes. He also served as tax counsel to AMP Incorporated (now TE Connectivity), a Fortune 300 company for over 15 years.
He has a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, an M.S. in Taxation from DePaul University and a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.
