Stevens & Lee assists employers who wish to hire foreign nationals to navigate successfully through the complicated maze of immigration laws and procedures. We help companies obtain a wide variety of non-immigrant visas for citizens of other countries, most commonly including:

  • H-1B for professional workers in “specialty occupations”
  • L-1A for managers and executives transferred to the U.S. from a foreign parent, subsidiary or affiliate
  • L-1B for employees with “specialized knowledge” of a company’s products, operations, equipment, etc. transferred to the U.S. from a foreign parent, subsidiary or affiliate
  • E-1/E-2 Treaty Trader/Investor visas
  • TN for Canadian and Mexican professionals
  • O-1 for individuals with extraordinary ability in their field
  • B-1/B-2 visitors for business or pleasure, including in the “B-1 in lieu of H-1B” category
  • Entry under the Visa Waiver Program

Our immigration attorneys also assist employers and their foreign national employees obtain permanent residence (green cards). When labor certification is required, we guide employers through this complex and time-consuming process. We also assist U.S. permanent residents in pursuing U.S. citizenship.

In addition, Stevens & Lee assists employers with implementing and maintaining I-9 compliance programs, advising them on their obligations when they receive Social Security “mismatch” letters and regarding issues pertaining to E-Verify enrollment and administration.

In the context of mergers, acquisitions and other corporate transactions, we assist in identifying and managing the often significant and potentially disruptive immigration consequences that can arise, and provide guidance on I-9 and other compliance issues related to the transaction.
