OPRA Amended: What Does It Mean for You?

  • October 10, 2024
  • 9:00 am - EDT

Meave E. Cannon, Shareholder and Chair of the Administrative Law and Government Contracts Group, and her practice group colleague Michael A. Cedrone will be speaking on the panel “OPRA Amended: What Does It Mean for You” at EdgeCon Autumn 2024 hosted by New Jersey Edge at Kean University on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024.

Discussion will cover Governor Murphy signing into law P.L.2024, c.16 (S2930/A4045) — the first significant amendment to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (OPRA), N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1, et seq. in over two decades. These amendments, which took effect Sept. 3, 2024, made several key changes to OPRA in an effort to both modernize the law and prevent abuse. This presentation will provide an overview of the most significant changes to OPRA, and how those changes will impact public entities in responding to OPRA requests on a daily basis.
