Manuela M. Morais, Co-Chair of the firm’s Immigration and Nationality Group, and Sasha A. Phillips and Christopher J. Harris, members of the Labor and Employment Department, will be presenting CLE seminars during the Philadelphia Bar Association 2026 Bench-Bar & Annual Conference at the W Hotel in Philadelphia on Sept. 18, 2026.
Manuela will lead the course “Immigration Compliance for In-House Counsel” that focuses on how employers can strengthen their immigration compliance to address four key areas: ICE worksite visits, written immigration policies, M&A due diligence and I-9 administration. Discussion will address how compliance issues vary across industries, including manufacturing, technology, professional services and health care.
Sasha A. Phillips and Christopher J. Harris will present the seminar “AI in the Practice of Law – Emerging Practical and Ethical Considerations,” which focuses on how to mitigate potential waivers of privilege when using AI tools, how courts view the discoverability of AI chats, how AI agents create new challenges and opportunities for attorneys who use AI, and other emerging ethical and practical considerations all attorneys should know. The program will also explore how courts are scrutinizing AI use in pleadings, motion practice and briefing — and how attorneys can anticipate and mitigate judicial concerns.
