Gladys Brown Dutrieuille Recognized As a “Circle of Excellence” Honoree by the Central Penn Business Journal
HARRISBURG, PA, June 26, 2025 – Stevens & Lee is pleased to announce that Gladys Brown Dutrieuille has been selected among the Central Penn Business Journals ’s 2025 “Women of Influence” and has been distinguished as a “Circle of Excellence” honoree. She was recognized during the Women of Influence Awards Celebration on June 25 at the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel.
The Women of Influence Awards spotlight high-achieving women professionals and their notable career and community accomplishments in the greater Central Pennsylvania region. As a “Circle of Excellence” honoree, Ms. Dutrieuille is celebrated among an exclusive group of professional women who hold longstanding, notable success in their communities and in “leading the way for other women.” She is recognized for elevating the women around her throughout a prolific career in public service leadership and in her community advocacy for educational and wellness programs in Central Pennsylvania.
A national authority in the public utility industry, Ms. Dutrieuille is a former Commissioner and Chairman of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PAPUC) and for more than 30 years has helped to shape the public utility landscape in the Commonwealth and across the country. She is the past President of the Mid-Atlantic Conference of Regulatory Utilities Commissioners (MACRUC). She was appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), where she chaired the NARUC Critical Infrastructure Committee, served on the Electricity Committee and was a member of the NARUC Telecommunications Committee.
A two-term PAPUC Commissioner, Ms. Dutrieuille began her tenure at the PAPUC in 2013 when she was appointed by Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett. She was first appointed Chairman of the Commission in 2015 by Gov. Corbett. Gov. Tom Wolf also nominated her for a second term in 2018 and reappointed her as Chairman in 2019, placing her as the longest-serving female and African American Chairman in the Commission’s history. Across her leadership at PAPUC, Ms. Dutrieuille advanced transformative efforts in Pennsylvania’s energy generation, use and distribution, including the implementation of key consumer assistance programs during the COVID-19 pandemic and a workforce development program at the Commission.
Prior to her career at the PAPUC, Ms. Dutrieuille served the Pennsylvania Senate for 22 years. As a former Deputy Chief Counsel for the Senate Democratic Leader, she worked on major utility issues considered by the General Assembly
In her home communities, Ms. Dutrieuille is the current Epsilon Sigma Omega Chapter President of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., an international service organization dedicated to helping girls and women cultivate scholastic success. She is also a volunteer board member for the AKA Foundation of Central Pennsylvania, a nonprofit focused on advancing environmental sustainability and lifestyle, educational and economic empowerment for the Greater Harrisburg community.
