New Jersey Government Law: What You Need to Know Now

 Maeve E. Cannon, Ryan P. Kennedy and Michael A. Cedrone presented the online seminar “New Jersey Government Law: What You Need to Know Now” hosted by the National Business Institute on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST. The seminar offered an intensive overview of then-current issues and recent updates in New Jersey government law. 

Maeve Cannon presented “General Rules on Public Contracts and Bidding,” which provided insights on preparing bids and requests for proposal, analyzing bids, disqualifying bids, bid protest processes, contract awards processes and key details surrounding intellectual property and government contracts. 

In his panel “Land Use and Zoning Essentials,” Ryan Kennedy explored guidelines for drafting land use regulations, granting variances, granting and revoking conditional use permits, handling zoning ordinance violations: legal essentials, and techniques for annexing land and resolving issues.

Michael Cedrone covered “Marijuana and Local Government,” which offered an overview of federal and state marijuana laws, insights for government attorneys about the marijuana industry, local government restrictions/bans on marijuana use and details on what local government can restrict or permit regarding marijuana zoning ordinances.
