Rich explored the state and local tax risks that present ongoing challenges for in-house counsel. He discussed how each state has its own complex tax laws and administrative procedures that create a patchwork of compliance requirements. As states look for ways to increase revenue, often expanding their interpretations of existing laws, the tax landscape continues to shift. Court responses to these developments add another layer of uncertainty, making it critical for in-house counsel to stay informed and proactive.
