Daniel J. Hennessey and Richard J. King Present at HFMA’s 5th Annual Fall Institute

PHILADELPHIA, PA, September 28, 2011 – Stevens & Lee attorneys Daniel J. Hennessey and Richard J. King presented at the 5th Annual Healthcare Financial Management Association Fall Institute in Philadelphia on September 22, 2011.

Messrs. Hennessey and King provided an overview of the proposed federal Accountable Care Organization (ACO) regulations from both a financial and regulatory perspective. The presentation featured real life examples reflecting potential savings based on performance based factors.

Mr. King serves on the HFMA Board of Directors (Philadelphia Metropolitan Chapter) and is the Co-chair of the organization’s Legislative Committee.

Mr. King concentrates his practice in health law with emphasis on federal and state regulatory compliance and third party reimbursement, including Medicare, Medicaid and non-governmental commercial payers. He has represented more than 100 nursing homes, hospitals and personal care facilities in state and regulatory proceedings, including survey, certification and certificate of need matters. He has appealed Medicaid and Medicare disputes and has defended clients in insurance, health care, commercial and franchise law matters.

Mr. King frequently writes and speaks on a wide range of health law and policy topics and has given presentations for professional organizations, including the Delaware Health Care Facilities Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.

Mr. Hennessey focuses his practice on health care matters including tax, regulatory, corporate and transactional issues, and has assisted in the representation of health care systems, hospitals, managed care organizations, post-acute care providers, medical laboratories, physician practices and other health care providers. He advises clients on a variety of issues involving fraud and abuse laws, exempt organization matters, state and federal licensure and regulation of health care entities, corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, health care contracting and physician compensation.

Mr. Hennessey has written and presented on a variety of health care topics including the recent health care reform legislation and, more specifically, accountable care organizations.
