Edward C. Renenger Presents at the Multi-State ESOP Conference

READING, PA, September 19, 2014 – Stevens & Lee Shareholder Edward C. Renenger presented at the 19th Annual Multi-State ESOP Conference held September 17-18, 2014, in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Renenger spoke on “Navigating Internal Trustee Waters – Best Practices from the Perspective of an External Trustee and Counsel,” providing insight to internal employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) Trustees from the viewpoint of an advisor. The session identified potential pitfalls and risks that Trustees face when making and documenting important decisions regarding their organization’s ESOP.

Mr. Renenger, a Shareholder of Stevens & Lee, is an employee benefits attorney who concentrates his practice on ERISA and qualified retirement plans. He provides particular expertise on the feasibility, design, implementation and administration of ESOPs for both Subchapter S Corporations, as well as Subchapter C Corporations. Mr. Renenger’s ESOP practice focuses on the entire range of ESOP-owned companies, from companies that are wholly owned by the ESOP Trust, to publicly traded companies in which the ESOP Trust has a minority interest.

Mr. Renenger also advises clients on the structure and administration of defined benefit pension plans and defined contribution plans, including 401(k) plans. In addition, he guides clients through the retirement plan correction programs and, in this capacity, regularly acts as legal counsel before the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor.
