Hon. Thomas I. Vanaskie (Ret.) Serves as Panelist for The Sedona Conference Commentary on ESI Evidence & Admissibility, Second Edition

SCRANTON, PA, Aug. 27, 2020 – Hon. Thomas I. Vanaskie (Ret.), Chair of Stevens & Lee’s Appellate and Mediation, Neutral Services and Alternative Dispute Resolution practice groups, served as a panelist for the webinar “The Sedona Conference Commentary on ESI Evidence & Admissibility, Second Edition (Public Comment Version),” held Aug. 26, 2020.

Judge Vanaskie provided insight during this refresher course on The Sedona Conference Commentary on ESI Evidence & Admissibility, Second Edition, which covers the fundamentals of evidence law in light of new and emerging electronic forms of communication and documentation. Judge Vanaskie dealt with the evidentiary issues unique to emojis. Kevin Brady, Esq., General Counsel for Volkswagen Group of America, moderated the discussion.

Judge Vanaskie is Of Counsel with Stevens & Lee’s Litigation Department. He is a former Judge with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Judge Vanaskie was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 2010 where he served with distinction for eight years, participating in and deciding many complex, high profile cases. Before 2010, he served as a district judge for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania for 16 years, including seven years as chief judge. He has a J.D., cum laude, from the Dickinson School of Law and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Lycoming College.
