James C. Schwartzman Elected Vice Chairman of the Pennsylvania Judicial Conduct Board

PHILADELPHIA, PA, August 17, 2015 – Stevens & Lee’s James C. Schwartzman has been elected Vice Chairman of the Judicial Conduct Board of Pennsylvania. Entering his second year of Board service, he was appointed by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to a four-year term last August.

Formed in 1993, the Judicial Conduct Board of Pennsylvania investigates allegations of ethical misconduct against Pennsylvania judges. If necessary, the Board prepares and brings cases against judges who are accused of unethical actions.

Mr. Schwartzman represents lawyers, law firms and judges on ethics-related issues. He has extensive trial experience in civil and criminal matters in the courts in southeastern Pennsylvania. Mr. Schwartzman is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

In addition to his membership on the Judicial Conduct Board, Mr. Schwartzman is a former Chairman of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania’s Disciplinary Board, Continuing Legal Education Board and Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Board. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) since 1991, previously serving as Vice Chairman.  He also serves on the Board of Directors of Independence Blue Cross.

Mr. Schwartzman is a member of many organizations, including the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association and his local, state and national bar associations.

He received a J.D., cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law and an A.B. from Washington University. He is a resident of Radnor, Delaware County.
