Joseph P. Hofmann Presents at SNAC International Webinar
LANCASTER, PA, August 3, 2016 – Joseph P. Hofmann, a Shareholder with Stevens & Lee, was a featured speaker at a webinar held by SNAC International, the international trade association of the snack industry, representing snack manufacturers and suppliers.
Mr. Hofmann presented, “FLSA Exempt Salary Level is Doubling… Now What do We Do?” where he discussed the United States Department of Labor’s final regulations that will more than double the weekly salary amount required for managerial, administrative and professional employees to be exempt from receiving overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 per week. This significant change goes into effect December 1, 2016.
Mr. Hofmann concentrates his practice on labor and employment law matters including employment litigation and labor relations, and provides advice to management on effective human resource management practices, legal compliance and risk management in labor and employment matters. He works with employers in a variety of industries in responding to union organizing and decertification attempts, defense of unfair labor practice charges and complaints, strategizing on union avoidance techniques from both a legal and practical standpoint and negotiating collective bargaining agreements.
He works closely with employers to prepare for and implement work force restructuring plans as a result of acquisitions, divestitures and cost reduction initiatives. He also counsels employers concerning employee handbooks and employment policies.
Previously, he served as Regional Personnel Representative & Senior Employee Relations Representative for Target Stores and as staff labor counsel for the Minnesota Nurses Association.
Mr. Hofmann received a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and a B.S., magna cum laude, from LeMoyne College.
