Kirsten McAuliffe Raleigh Presents at Healthcare Financial Management Association Metropolitan Philadelphia Chapter Fall Institute

VALLEY FORGE, PA, September 22, 2014 – Kirsten McAuliffe Raleigh, a Shareholder of Stevens & Lee, presented at the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Metropolitan Philadelphia Chapter’s 8th Annual Fall Institute held September 18, 2014, in Philadelphia.

In the presentation “Medicare Enrollment Considerations,” Ms. Raleigh discussed why health care providers, suppliers and practitioners should make Medicare Enrollment matters a higher priority, including the potential implications of the recently proposed civil monetary penalties in connection with enrollment and other consequences for failing to maintain current enrollment information. She also discussed the events that trigger enrollment filings, and the huge push that CMS is making now through March 2015 to have Medicare providers, suppliers and practitioners revalidate their enrollment information. The presentation covered common mistakes in the enrollment application process and points to be mindful of to avoid any disruption in payments.

Ms. Raleigh provides regulatory and compliance advice to clients in the health care industry, advising on Medicare and Medicaid enrollment, coverage and reimbursement issues, provider-based restructuring considerations, licensure and certification of providers and health care services, EMTALA compliance and tax-exempt issues. She helps clients understand and apply the wide variety of regulatory requirements with which health care businesses must comply.

Ms. Raleigh assists clients in developing and implementing corporate compliance programs and in handling internal regulatory investigations, and advises on the implementation of corrective action plans, including self-reporting overpayments and regulatory violations to appropriate governmental agencies. Her work often arises in connection with mergers, acquisitions, restructuring and other business transactions entered into by entities that own and operate health care providers and suppliers.

Ms. Raleigh holds a J.D., cum laude, from Widener University School of Law and a B.A. from Bucknell University.
