Marianne J. Gilmartin Garners the Attorney Robert W. Munley Distinguished Service Award From Lackawanna Pro Bono
SCRANTON, PA, Nov. 14, 2024 – Marianne J. Gilmartin received the Attorney Robert W. Munley Distinguished Service Award from Lackawanna Pro Bono during its annual fundraising gala at the Scranton Cultural Center Ballroom on Nov. 14.
Presented by Lackawanna Pro Bono, a nonprofit that helps local attorneys deliver pro bono representation to disadvantaged individuals facing a variety of legal civil issues, the Attorney Robert W. Munley Distinguished Service Award spotlights Ms. Gilmartin’s dedicated volunteerism across 6 years. She is honored for her community leadership and long-time commitment to advancing equality of justice in her home region.
An advocate for community growth, Ms. Gilmartin is the Immediate Past Board Chair of the Circle 200 and serves on the boards of directors for Boy Scouts of America and the North Pocono Public Library. She was recognized in 2022 by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council of the Boy Scouts of America with the Silver Beaver Award, a national distinction and the highest honor given to volunteers for their dedication and service to the organization.
Ms. Gilmartin’s litigation practice focuses on construction, toxic torts, product liability and catastrophic casualty, banking, insurance, manufacturing and complex commercial issues. Her representations span public utilities, owners and developers, contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers, as well as colleges and universities, utilities, banking institutions, local government, manufacturers and insurance companies in a wide range of litigation matters. Ms. Gilmartin also counsels clients regarding risk avoidance and manages construction litigation and dispute resolution proceedings. She has tried and mediated dozens of significant catastrophic casualty cases throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, including some at the appellate level.
Ms. Gilmartin serves in leadership roles for regional business, higher education and economic development organizations. She serves on the board of directors of Johnson College, the Scranton Lackawanna Industrial Building Co. and the Scranton Chamber of Commerce and co-chairs its Scranton Plan, a regional initiative to attract business and create and retain jobs for Lackawanna County. Ms. Gilmartin is also a member of various bar and professional organizations. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Marywood College.
