Marianne J. Gilmartin Recognized by the Northeastern PA Council, Boy Scouts of America
SCRANTON, PA, November 16, 2022 – Marianne J. Gilmartin has been recognized by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) with the Silver Beaver Award, a national distinction and the highest honor given to a BSA volunteer.
The Northeastern Pennsylvania Council presents the Silver Beaver Award to volunteers who have bettered the lives of youth through service to the council. Ms. Gilmartin, who serves on the Board of Directors of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council BSA and was its Immediate Past Chair, has been recognized for her dedication to the organization, commitment to its programs and many years of service.
Ms. Gilmartin’s litigation practice focuses on construction, toxic torts, product liability and catastrophic casualty, banking, insurance, manufacturing and complex commercial issues. Her representations span public utilities, owners and developers, contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers, as well as colleges and universities, utilities, banking institutions, local government, manufacturers and insurance companies in a wide range of litigation matters. Ms. Gilmartin also counsels clients regarding risk avoidance and manages construction litigation and dispute resolution proceedings. She has tried and mediated dozens of significant catastrophic casualty cases throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, including some at the appellate level.
Ms. Gilmartin serves in leadership roles for regional business, higher education and economic development organizations. She serves on the board of directors of Johnson College, the Scranton Lackawanna Industrial Building Co. and the Scranton Chamber of Commerce and co-chairs its Scranton Plan, a regional initiative to attract business and create and retain jobs for Lackawanna County. Ms. Gilmartin is also a member of various bar and professional organizations.
She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Marywood College.
