Ramiro M. Carbonell Appointed to Board of Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

PHILADELPHIA, PA, March 15, 2011 – Ramiro M. Carbonell, a Stevens & Lee shareholder, was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber serves the second largest Hispanic community in the northeast in a region that boasts nearly 5,200 Hispanic businesses.

Mr. Carbonell was also a founding member of its Professional Mentoring Network.

Mr. Carbonell concentrates his practice in tax-exempt finance with an emphasis on taxation and federal arbitrage law, Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit transactions and New Markets Tax Credit transactions. He also has over 20 years experience of serving as bond counsel to municipalities.

He is bilingual and helps counsel the firm’s clients doing business in Latin America on corporate or related issues.

Mr. Carbonell has been a speaker for the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the Pennsylvania Association of Bond Lawyers and the Pennsylvania Housing Alliance. He is a member of the New Jersey Hispanic Bar Association, the National Association of Bond Lawyers and the American Bar Association. He sits on the Board of Trustees of the Pennsylvania Housing Alliance and the Pennsylvania Association of Bond Lawyers.

He received a M.Fin. from Penn State University, an LL.M. in Taxation from Temple University School of Law, a J.D. with Tax Honors from Rutgers School of Law and a B.S. from New York University.
