Stevens & Lee/Griffin Professionals Present on Tax Reform at New Jersey Economic Leadership Forum

READING, PA, January 25, 2018 – Stevens & Lee/Griffin’s Robert Duquette, Jay Wagner and Matthew Jozwiak spoke at the Economic Leadership Forum in Somerset, NJ, on January 19, 2018.

Messrs. Duquette, Wagner and Jozwiak presented “Federal Tax Reform and its Potential Impact on Banks and Their Clients,” which covered a number of changes banks and other businesses and their owners will face in light of new tax reform legislation. The event featured an address from Wilbur L. Ross, Jr., the 39th Secretary of Commerce, in addition to well-known national speakers and New Jersey business leaders.

Mr. Duquette, CPA, MBA, is a Professor of Practice in tax policy at Lehigh University and is also a member of the Griffin/Stevens & Lee Tax & Consulting Network. He is a former senior tax partner with Ernst & Young and Transactions Tax Practice Leader for E&Y’s Philadelphia Office. Over his 30+ year career, he advised on and helped coordinate tax services in connection with over 500 transactions, aggregating over $50 billion in volume for publicly held and small and middle market companies. He was responsible for leading and growing the tax practice, overall quality control,  structuring  transactions, reviewing and advising on deal documents, tax due diligence and disclosures of a deal, and coordination with financial due diligence teams.

Mr. Wagner is Co-Chair of Stevens & Lee’s Estates and Trusts Department. He concentrates his practice in estate and trust planning and administration, wealth preservation, trust and estate litigation, charitable and nonprofit organizations, and guardianship administration and has extensive experience in individual income tax matters. Mr. Wagner serves as general counsel to a number of charitable organizations, and represents many others as special counsel, advising them on matters including federal tax law and regulations.

Mr. Jozwiak is a Senior Vice President in Griffin’s Financial Institutions Group, where he works closely with management teams and Boards of Directors to provide advisory and transaction services to banks and other financial institutions. A former Senior Vice President at a regional bank, he brings practical, client-focused experience to each engagement. Mr. Jozwiak serves as an industry expert, facilitating board and management strategic planning sessions with particular focus on strategic, growth and profitability improvement initiatives. He has advised on equity and debt offerings, buy-side and sell-side M&A, branch purchases and sales, and has been instrumental in marketing over $1 billion in credit.
