Stevens & Lee Hosts Seminar on Dodd-Frank’s Impact on the Residential Mortgage Industry

PHILADELPHIA, November 12, 2010 – Stevens & Lee attorneys Paul H. Schieber and Steven J. Adams discussed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and its impact on the regulatory, enforcement and compliance environment for residential mortgage lenders, brokers and servicers at a seminar held November 9 in King of Prussia, PA.

Addressing an audience of over 70 mortgage banking professionals, the speakers discussed how Dodd-Frank will consolidate virtually all federal financial consumer protection laws into a new and independent bureau that will have unparalleled regulatory and enforcement authority. They also addressed how the new requirements imposed by Dodd-Frank will redefine the residential mortgage banking industry for years to come.

About the Presenters

Paul H. Schieber concentrates his practice in consumer financial services and retail banking. He represents banks, thrifts, credit unions, mortgage companies, finance companies, mortgage insurance companies, universities, secondary market investors, real estate and title insurance companies, and other financial services providers. Mr. Schieber is the co-author of The Lender’s Guide to Consumer Compliance and Anti-Discrimination Laws, co-author of the six volume Pratt’s State Regulation of Second Mortgages and Home Equity Loans and is the original author of the Allregs© State Law Compliance Module.

Steven J. Adams represents major financial institutions and mortgage servicers in all aspects of consumer financial services litigation, including complex foreclosure proceedings and defending financial institutions and servicers against consumer claims arising under the Truth in Lending Act, the Real Estate Settlement and Procedures Act and other federal statutes, as well as state law claims arising under various state consumer protection statutes.
