Thomas A. Bowen Moderates the Pennsylvania Chamber’s 2014 Tax Roundtable

HARRISBURG, PA, November 10, 2014 – Thomas A. Bowen, Chair of Stevens & Lee’s State and Local Tax Group, moderated the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry’s 2014 Tax Roundtable: Pennsylvania Tax Update; Steps to Combat Fraud; Property Tax Appeals Update; and Changes to the Business Privilege Tax Law held November 7, 2014 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

In addition to moderating, Mr. Bowen provided opening remarks on how recent changes in state tax laws, procedures and policies will be implemented, the impact of spending pressures, business tax policy and strategy and future tax options. The 2014 Tax Roundtable covered updates to Pennsylvania state and local business taxation and property tax appeals and strategies to combat financial fraud. 

Mr. Bowen concentrates his practice in state and local tax, unclaimed property and economic development incentives. In the tax area, his focus is on controversies, planning and policy. A Certified Public Accountant and lawyer, Mr. Bowen spent seven years with Ernst & Young, LLP, most recently as the Mid-Atlantic Area Director of state and local income and franchise taxes. He also served as tax counsel to AMP Incorporated (now TE Connectivity), a Fortune 300 company for over 15 years.

Mr. Bowen frequently presents and writes articles on state and local tax issues for organizations such as LeadingAge, Council on State Taxation (COST), the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Bowen is the Chairman of the Tax Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry. He is an active member of the state taxation committee of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as the COST Practitioner Connection and the Tax Law section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
