Marianne J. Gilmartin Elected to Chair Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce
Effective June 4, Marianne J. Gilmartin, Shareholder in Stevens & Lee’s Litigation Department, has been elected to serve a two-year term as Chair of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber is the largest business association in Northeastern Pennsylvania and represents more than 1,500 member companies. Ms. Gilmartin has been serving on its board of directors for more than 20 years, and co-chaired its Scranton Plan, a regional initiative to attract business and create and retain jobs for Lackawanna County, and previously served for three years as President of the Scranton Lackawanna Industrial Building Company (SLIBCO), an affiliated organization.
Ms. Gilmartin’s litigation practice focuses on construction, toxic torts, product liability and catastrophic casualty, banking, insurance, manufacturing and complex commercial issues. Her representations span public utilities, owners and developers, contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers, as well as colleges and universities, utilities, banking institutions, local government, manufacturers and insurance companies in a wide range of litigation matters. Ms. Gilmartin also counsels clients regarding risk avoidance and manages construction litigation and dispute resolution proceedings. She has tried and mediated dozens of significant catastrophic casualty cases throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, including some at the appellate level. Ms. Gilmartin is a commercial and construction arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.
Ms. Gilmartin serves in leadership roles for regional business, higher education and economic development organizations. She serves on the board of directors of Johnson College and SLIBCO. She also serves on the board of directors of AllOne Charities and the North Pocono Public Library. She is a member of numerous bar and professional organizations.
