Donald R. Wagner Presents on Shale Gas at AGA Legal Forum

READING, PA, July 25, 2011 – Donald R. Wagner, a shareholder of Stevens & Lee, gave an overview of unconventional shale gas development at the American Gas Association Legal Forum July 17-19, 2011, in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Mr. Wagner provided a brief history of shale gas and outlined the various federal, state and local regulations that affect shale gas development. In addition, he discussed the current issues facing shale plays throughout the United States, including hydraulic fracturing, water use, waste management, air quality and impact fees, among others.

Mr. Wagner is a former consulting geologist with over 20 years of experience providing professional environmental services to commercial, industrial and manufacturing clients, developers, municipalities and economic development agencies. He is a Pennsylvania-licensed geologist as well as a lawyer and concentrates his legal practice on environmental issues associated with a wide variety of transactions, including mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, Brownfields redevelopment, real estate transfers and other impaired property transactions.

Mr. Wagner also counsels clients on state voluntary cleanup programs and assists them in formulating and implementing cost-effective cleanup strategies. In addition, he counsels clients on the due diligence process, identifying, evaluating and allocating environmental risks associated with corporate and real estate transactions and in negotiating and obtaining insurance coverage to facilitate deals. He is also a Pennsylvania licensed property and casualty insurance producer.

Mr. Wagner holds a J.D., magna cum laude, from Temple University School of Law and a B.S. in Geology, cum laude, from the University of Miami.
