Hon. Thomas I. Vanaskie (Ret.) Appointed Vice Chair

PHILADELPHIA, PA, April 27, 2022 – Hon. Thomas I. Vanaskie (Ret.), Chair of Stevens & Lee’s Appellate and Mediation, Neutral Services and Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Groups, has been appointed to Vice President of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Judicial Administration Committee for the 2022-2023 program year.

In helping to lead the Judicial Administration Committee, Judge Vanaskie will work closely with Co-Chairs the Hon. Carl A. Solano (Ret.), who served in the Pennsylvania Superior Court, and Brian Neft, a former judicial candidate for the Superior Court. Judge Vanaskie will play key roles in mentoring up-and-coming leaders and advancing the mission of the Committee to review, analyze and offer solutions to legislative issues regarding the operation, procedure and reform of the state and federal court systems.

Judge Vanaskie is Of Counsel with Stevens & Lee’s Litigation Department. He is a former Judge with the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Judge Vanaskie was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 2010 where he served with distinction for eight years, participating in and deciding many complex, high profile cases. Before 2010, he served as a district judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania for 16 years, including seven years as Chief Judge.

He has a J.D., cum laude, from the Dickinson School of Law and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Lycoming College.
