Joseph P. Hofmann Presents at the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers Human Resources Conference

LANCASTER, PA, April 28, 2016 – Stevens & Lee Shareholder Joseph P. Hofmann presented at the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers Human Resources Conference held April 27-28, 2016, in Hershey, PA.

As part of a panel on legal updates, Mr. Hofmann presented “It’s Time to Check Your Handbooks and Salary Levels.” The session provided a look at individual employee rights under the National Labor Relations Act and how certain rules might violate those rights. Mr. Hofmann also informed the audience about proposed changes to the minimum salary and overtime exemption and provided tips on preparing for the potential changes.

Mr. Hofmann concentrates his practice on labor and employment law, including employment litigation and labor relations, and provides advice to management on effective human resource management practices, legal compliance and risk management in labor and employment matters. He has worked with employers in a variety of industries in responding to union organizing and decertification attempts, strategizing on union avoidance techniques from both a legal and practical standpoint and negotiating collective bargaining agreements.

Mr. Hofmann works closely with employers to prepare for and implement work force restructuring plans as a result of acquisitions, divestitures and cost reduction initiatives. He also counsels employers concerning employee handbooks and employment policies.

Mr. Hofmann also represents public sector clients such as authorities, counties, boroughs, townships and school districts, in employment and labor relations matters, including labor negotiations and arbitrations under Act 195 and Act 111.

He holds a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School, and a B.S., magna cum laude, from LeMoyne College.
