Linda R. Evers Hosts EUCI Webinar on Smart Meter PR Practices

READING, PA, May 16, 2011 – Linda R. Evers, Chair of Stevens & Lee’s Energy, Communications and Public Utility Group, hosted a webinar on smart meter public relations practices May 12, 2011.

Attended by utility executives and managers, compliance directors, legal counsel and other energy consultants throughout the U.S. and in Canada and the United Kingdom, Ms. Evers outlined how an effective communications plan could prepare utility companies for smart meter issues potentially raised by consumers. Using smart meter cases and consumer complaints from across the country, Ms. Evers walked participants through various issues that have arisen when deploying smart meter technology and how to manage those issues.

Ms. Evers represents public utilities and other companies in matters before governmental and regulatory agencies, including the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. Prior to joining Stevens & Lee, she served as long-time in-house counsel for FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corporation, one of the largest utilities in the nation.

Ms. Evers provides insight on regulatory smart grid cases on the state and federal levels. She is a participating member of the NIST Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP), a national working group which advises regulatory agencies on national smart grid standards, and attended the Mid-Atlantic Conference of Regulatory Utilities Commissioners “Smart Grid School” sponsored by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.

Ms. Evers is a member of the American Association of Blacks in Energy, the Minority Bar Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Energy Bar Association and The Forum of Executive Women, as well as a number of community organizations. Ms. Evers is a former member of Corporate Counsel Women of Color® and the Electric Regulatory Committee of the Energy Association of Pennsylvania. She holds a J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law and a B.S. from Northwestern University.
