Stevens & Lee Names New Shareholder

HARRISBURG, PA, January 6, 2015 – Stevens & Lee today announced that Michael A. Gruin has been named shareholder of the firm effective January 1, 2015.

Michael A. Gruin concentrates his practice in the areas of public utility and tax law.  He is an experienced administrative litigator who represents clients in complex regulatory proceedings before various state public utility commissions and in tax controversies in numerous forums. His public utility clients include national and regional telecommunications providers, electricity and natural gas suppliers, electric distribution companies, water and wastewater companies, alternative energy companies and large utility consumers.  Mr. Gruin represents clients in a wide range of utility regulatory matters, including rate cases, license applications, change-of-control approvals, alternative energy program proceedings, consumer complaints, tariff matters, inter-carrier compensation disputes, interconnection negotiations and commission policy investigations.

Mr. Gruin also represents a diverse mix of clients in tax controversies in various jurisdictions. He has represented corporations and nonprofit entities in sales, use, income, gross receipts, business privilege, realty transfer, fuels and property tax matters in 20 states.

Mr. Gruin received a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and a B.S., with high distinction, from the Pennsylvania State University.
