Theresa M. Zechman Presents at the Association of Corporate Counsel Greater Philadelphia Employment and Labor Law CLE Institute

PHILADELPHIA, PA, March 15, 2017 – Stevens & Lee Shareholders Zachary R. Davis and Theresa M. Zechman presented at the Association of Corporate Counsel Greater Philadelphia Employment & Labor Law CLE Institute held March 6, 2017, in Conshohocken, PA.

In the presentation, “The Hiring Process Can Be Legal Without Being Boring,” Mr. Davis and Ms. Zechman outlined the dos and don’ts of the hiring process before an audience of in-house counsel. They provided an overview of the legal requirements of job applications and interviews and discussed methods of individualizing the process, and the ways in which hiring can go awry.

Mr. Davis focuses his practice on labor and employment matters. He represents employers in labor negotiations, as well as class action and single plaintiff employment litigation, including cases alleging discrimination, wrongful termination and breach of non-competition agreements. Mr. Davis also works with employers in non-adversarial situations, counseling them in Title VII regulations, employee relations and litigation prevention.

As published in Philadelphia magazine, Mr. Davis was recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2015 and 2016. He received a J.D., cum laude, from University of Michigan Law School, an MBA from Villanova University, and a B.A., cum laude, from Duke University.

Ms. Zechman concentrates her practice in labor management and employee relations, including counseling and litigation. She represents management in all human resource and employment issues including Title VII, Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Fair Labor Standards Act and other federal, state and local employment discrimination and wage and hour laws. Ms. Zechman also handles cases involving individual and class action wage and hour claims, wrongful discharge and other traditional contractual claims arising from employment, including breach of employment contracts, at all stages of litigation. She represents employers in discrimination matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and various state and local agencies as well as state and federal court.

In addition, Ms. Zechman represents and counsels employers regarding the creation and application of workplace and personnel policies, including leaves of absence, USERRA, EEO, FMLA, FLSA, discrimination, harassment, searches, drug and alcohol, workplace violence, e-mail and electronic communication policies. Ms. Zechman also lectures and provides training on employment related topics.

Ms. Zechman has J.D. from Widener University School of Law, an Executive MBA from The Pennsylvania State University, SMEAL College of Business and a B.S. from The Pennsylvania State University.
