- Wealth Planning, Trusts and Estates
Andrew is a trusts and estates practitioner focused on advising high-net-worth individuals, multi-generational families and closely held business owners on complex wealth transfer and tax planning matters. His practice centers on the design and implementation of sophisticated planning structures that address estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax exposure, while integrating business succession, governance and long-term family objectives.
He frequently helps clients develop and optimize their advanced planning strategies, including grantor trust planning (including sale transactions), as well as non-grantor trust structures, dynasty planning, spousal lifetime access trusts (SLATs), irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs), grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs) and related freeze and leveraging techniques, and sophisticated charitable planning vehicles. Clients and their advisors also rely on him to coordinate multi-disciplinary planning across jurisdictions, working closely with accountants, financial advisors and family offices to ensure efficient execution and long-term administrability.
In addition to planning, Andrew advises fiduciaries and beneficiaries on all aspects of trust and estate administration, including post-mortem tax planning, fiduciary risk management and the resolution or avoidance of disputes. He also provides counsel on the formation and governance of nonprofit entities, including private foundations and other tax-exempt organizations, with an emphasis on compliance and strategic charitable planning.
Andrew is valued for his practical, execution-oriented approach to complex matters, particularly where tax planning intersects with closely held business interests and intergenerational wealth transfer. His clients include business owners, executives and families with significant and often illiquid assets requiring tailored structuring solutions.
Alongside his practice, Andrew serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Penn State Dickinson Law, where he teaches Wills, Trusts & Estates and garnered the 2024 Adjunct Faculty Member of the Year distinction. He is a frequent speaker and author on estate planning, tax and fiduciary matters.
