Stevens & Lee Names Three New Shareholders

READING and VALLEY FORGE, PA, and BERGEN COUNTY, NJ, January 7, 2022 – Stevens & Lee announced today that Richard M. Botwright, Ryan P. Mulvaney and Andrew Stein have been named shareholders of the firm effective January 1, 2022.

Richard M. Botwright concentrates his practice in state and local tax, where he focuses on controversy and planning. 

Prior to joining Stevens & Lee, Mr. Botwright worked as a tax attorney in the Office of Chief Counsel for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where he represented the Department of Revenue in tax disputes, assisted with tax policy and legislative changes and advised on the taxation of intangible holding companies, as well as drafted the Department’s information notice on the disallowance of intercompany expenses. He worked as a CPA for several large accounting firms before practicing law.

Mr. Botwright earned his LL.M. from the New York University School of Law, his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law and his B.S. from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.

Ryan P. Mulvaney  assists financial services and other clients in a range of commercial, business, corporate and employment matters before state and federal trial and appellate courts in New Jersey, New York and other jurisdictions. His broad experience also extends to class action litigation, corporate investigations, surety litigation, life and disability insurance litigation, local government law, election law and campaign finance.

Following law school, Mr. Mulvaney served as a federal law clerk to the Hon. Dennis M. Cavanaugh U.S.D.J. (ret.) in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

He earned his J.D. from Seton Hall Law School and his B.A. from Seton Hall University.

Andrew Stein assists health care clients, including hospitals and health systems, long term care facilities, physicians and physician practices, mid-level practitioners, and other industry providers in a wide range of transactions and regulatory services.

Mr. Stein helps to facilitate mergers, acquisitions, asset purchases and joint ventures, and has counseled clients regarding HIPAA, fraud and abuse laws, reimbursement (including appeals), records maintenance, patient communications and professional licensure, among other matters. He also drafts, reviews and negotiates a variety of contracts, including operating, partnership and employment agreements.

Mr. Stein earned his J.D. from the Villanova University School of Law, his M.B.A from the University of Oxford and his B.S. from Boston University.
