Christopher K. Costa Named Co-Chair of Stevens & Lee’s Real Estate Department
PRINCETON, NJ, June 24, 2021 – Stevens & Lee has named Christopher K. Costa as Co-Chair of the firm’s Real Estate Department, joining Co-Chair Steven D. Buck to lead the group.
Mr. Costa represents clients in all aspects of commercial real estate law, including land use, transactions, commercial banking, condominium conversions, leasing and landlord-tenant law. He has successfully obtained development approvals for clients on industrial and warehouse projects, pharmaceutical and research facilities, residential subdivisions, apartment complexes and mixed-use projects. He also represents multiple religious institutions in land use litigation in federal court under the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA).
Mr. Costa has particular experience in the areas of industrial use and logistics, assisting clients with industrial property purchases, use variance approvals for warehouses and strategic site zoning conversions, as well as industrial ground leasing, vehicle fleet sales and related commercial and construction loans. Throughout the pandemic and its fluctuating business environment, institutional landlords and tenants have relied on Mr. Costa’s skill in resolving lease issues and disputes.
He is a sought-after speaker on topics including land use, discrimination, leasing and other real estate issues. Mr. Costa is an Associate Counsel of the New Jersey Planning Officials, a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Mercer County Bar Association and the Cornell Real Estate Council, and has been trained in mediation of complex land use disputes by the Consensus Building Institute. Mr. Costa holds a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and a B.S. from Cornell University.
