Larry J. Rappoport, Lisa M. Scidurlo and Theresa M. Zechman Present at Health Care Symposium by Brown & Brown of Pennsylvania

VALLEY FORGE, PA, June 8, 2015 – Stevens & Lee Shareholders Larry J. Rappoport, Lisa M. Scidurlo and Theresa M. Zechman spoke at the 14th Annual Health Care Symposium presented by Brown & Brown of Pennsylvania and held May 12, 13 and 20, 2015.

Mr. Rappoport, Ms. Scidurlo and Ms. Zechman discussed the legal requirements for extending employee benefits imposed by the Family Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and related employment laws during leave. The presenters also discussed ways to minimize cost and reduce liability in this regard, along with implementation of effective and compliant leave policies as they relate to employee benefits. Presentations were held in Camp Hill, Breinigsville and Plymouth Meeting, PA.

Mr. Rappoport concentrates his practice in employment discrimination litigation, class and collective action litigation under the FLSA and state wage labor laws, other class action litigation and all other employment law related litigation and arbitrations, including non-competes, protection of trade secrets and confidential information. He also represents clients in traditional labor matters such as collective bargaining and NLRB matters.

Mr. Rappoport was formerly a staff attorney with both the NLRB and the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board and also employed as Director of Labor Relations at the Sands Hotel & Casino. He has a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and a B.A., cum laude, from George Washington University.

Ms. Scidurlo concentrates her practice in all aspects of labor management and employee relations, including counseling and litigation. She regularly handles cases involving claims under Title VII, Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other federal, state and local employment discrimination laws. She has won significant victories after trial as well as dispositive motions in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She has also won significant victories at the Third Circuit and the United States Supreme Court, including a case involving a same-sex sexual harassment claim under Title VII.

Ms. Scidurlo represents employers at all stages of employment discrimination claims, including matters pending before the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations and the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights.

Ms. Scidurlo regularly counsels employers on compliance issues regarding the maintenance and administration of employment-related policies, including anti-discrimination policies, harassment avoidance policies, e-mail and electronic communication policies, social media policies and policies addressing family and medical leave. Lisa frequently lectures on topics including harassment avoidance, administration of the FMLA and the ADA, managing in a union environment, maintaining a union free workplace for the non-union employer, effective documentation, e-mail and privacy, social media and the workplace, legal and effective hiring practices, managing intermittent FMLA leave and other employee relations topics.

She has a J.D., magna cum laude, from Temple University School of Law and a B.A., with highest distinction, from The Pennsylvania State University.

Ms. Zechman concentrates her practice in labor management and employee relations, including counseling and litigation. She represents management in all human resource and employment issues including Title VII, Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Fair Labor Standards Act and other federal, state and local employment discrimination and wage and hour laws. Ms. Zechman also handles cases involving individual and class action wage and hour claims, wrongful discharge and other traditional contractual claims arising from employment, including breach of employment contracts, at all stages of litigation. She represents employers in discrimination matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and various state and local agencies as well as state and federal court.

In addition, Ms. Zechman represents and counsels employers regarding the creation and application of workplace and personnel policies, including leaves of absence, USERRA, EEO, FMLA, FLSA, discrimination, harassment, searches, drug and alcohol, workplace violence, e-mail and electronic communication policies. Ms. Zechman also lectures and provides training on employment related topics.

Ms. Zechman has J.D. from Widener University School of Law, an Executive MBA from The Pennsylvania State University, SMEAL College of Business and a B.S. from The Pennsylvania State University.
