Employee Benefits and ERISA

Our attorneys represent higher education clients in all aspects of employee pension, welfare benefit and executive compensation programs, including design, maintenance and compliance with obligations under federal employee benefits and related tax law.

Stevens & Lee regularly advises colleges and universities in employee benefits matters, including issues relating to non-qualified deferred compensation and executive compensation and the application of Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor issues. We also help our higher education clients structure both qualified and non-qualified plans of deferred compensation and offer guidance on administrative requirements and related issues.

A recent focus for our higher education clients includes the review of existing Code Section 403(b) arrangements and the transition to full plan platforms, as well as the use of expanded IRS correction procedures to resolve plan compliance and administrative errors.
