Employment Litigation

Stevens & Lee has one of the most extensive and successful management employment discrimination practices in the Mid-Atlantic region. We have handled employment discrimination and other employment-related cases with success for many regional and national employers across a broad range of diverse industries.

Our experience includes representing clients in administrative proceedings, including those before the National Labor Relations Board, and state and federal fair employment agencies, and in connection with investigations and compliance proceedings brought by the U.S. Department of Labor, including wage and hour claims and OSHA issues. Our attorneys have handled individual employment discrimination cases of all types, as well as class actions. We have successfully defended employers in many state and federal trial and appellate courts against claims of wrongful discharge, discrimination on the basis of age, race, sex, disability, national origin, religion and veterans’ status, as well as claims under ERISA, MEPPA, the WARN Act, Title IX, Title VII and Section 1983.

Our goal is always to achieve a successful result for our clients as early as possible in an effort to avoid mounting legal fees, costs and potential liability. To this end, we have obtained summary judgment in numerous employment discrimination matters for our clients. In many others, we have prevailed by negotiating settlements in the early stages of litigation or through non-binding mediation on terms favorable to our clients. When cases have proceeded to trial we have prevailed in the overwhelming majority of them.
