Barbara is a senior gerontologist and a recognized specialist in elder financial fraud prevention. She applies a holistic approach to address issues involving age-related vulnerabilities. Barbara considers gerontology, cognitive health, older consumer behavior, trauma and resilience, retirement planning and physical health when advising financial professionals about strategies that better serve their older customers. Barbara also designs and delivers training programs and has created bespoke training materials for national organizations, including the American Bankers Association. She has particular expertise in delivering programs and training that integrate gerontology, holistic health and retirement planning to address the unique needs of aging populations through enhanced financial decision-making.
Barbara contributes to national policy discussions as a member of the Moonshot Think Tank, a global group advancing systemic solutions for elder financial fraud. She is a national speaker and trainer and has presented at the American Society on Aging, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Women in Insurance and Financial Services and the Financial Planning Association, among others. Barbara is a skilled public speaker and presenter who delivers engaging, effective training for financial advisory professionals. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Maricopa County Area Agency on Aging and is an adjunct professor of gerontology at Arizona State University.
